Audigy 2 eX Optical DD decoding delay

I have my Xbox 360 outputting through the optical out to my Audigy 2 external box. There is a 1/2-1 second delay in the audio. This is really annoying and it makes HD-DVDs almost unwatchable. Is there a way to get rid of this delay?
