I have a old XP machine which i use solely for playing videos.
It has a Audigy 2 sound card, connected to my 5.1 system.
I am installing the Audigy 2 drivers (Daniel K pack 4.0, but same problem occurs with the original, latest Audigy drivers)...everything looks correct, i am setting my speaker configuration, THX settings etc..etc...
After the next reboot, the Creative Speaker settings, THX console etc. don't show the right settings anymore and the drop-down menus are coming up empty. If i want to start audio console, equalizer or THX console etc.it says "cannot find audio device" etc....although sound itself works, drivers are installed and everything. The system seems to assume its set to 7.1 and the sound in movies etc. is screwed up.
I need to reinstall drivers constantly to get the settings back and to be able to switch to 5.1
I already tried everything like cleaning out everything with driversweeper etc, re-install etc...but problem persists.
Anyone an idea?
