Audigy 2 Calibration Help

I'm running Windows XP SP2, with the creative drivers installed from the cd, the EAX patch and the latest patch from creative. When I try and calibrate my speakers, afterwards it just sounds terrible. That last patch was supposed to fix the problem... has anyone found out how to get around this?

EDIT: It's the Main system in my rigs, P4 2.4C, Creative 5.1 speakers.

Why are you calibrating your speakers? Just plug them in and they should sound fine.

Well it does stuff like boost the sound at the back if the rear speakers are too far back, balancing and stuff... that sorta thing.
