Audigy 1 vs Audigy 2 livedrive questions

I beleive that i read that the "live drive 2" came with the SB audigy, and I dont recall that there was a revision to it. I am going to be changing the face of my live drive to a black cover. I am guessing that the covers that say Audigy and the ones that say Audigy 2 are identical, therefor, I would buy the Audigy 2 cover for my live drive and in the future, if/when I upgrade to an Audigy 2 card, I'll get an oem card, and not upgrade my livedrive.



New question: Are the faceplates interchangeable? Can I purchase the A2 faceplate and put it on my A1 livedrive?(so that if i upgrade in the future, I don't have to buy another black faceplate.

The pinouts for the Audigy 2 Platinum drive were changed from the Audigy 1. The Audigy 2 drive is not compatible with the Audigy one and vice-versa.

Ok, but a side question.

The front of the drives look identical, can I buy the Audigy 2 faceplate for my Audigy 1 live drive, and then swap it over if I ever upgrade?

(i dont need a black face for both of them if I upgrade)

sidenote: do you think the Audigy2 is worth the upgrade from the audigy 1 ?

Yes you can, I put the audigy 2 faceplate on my audigy Platinum before I took it out and got an audigy 2 card.
It's identical to the audigy 1 faceplate.
