Audigy 1 oem, $39.99

directron.com has this, $10 less than the next-best pricewatch price. Get the order up to $60 and use your web smarts to shave off another $5. TBSC fans need not apply.

beware: the drivers don't play well with via chipsets, so I hear.

I thought they got the VIA chipset problem fixed in Audigy 1 from the previous version - SB Live!

I think you're referring to problems with the SB Live.

REgardless, I've put the Audigy 1 in several systems with VIA chipsets. Rock stable.

anyway to buy the card, n then later upgrade it to EX? is that even possible?

You would have to buy a new breakout box which is available but expensive (soundblaster.com sells them for like $150 for the box alone)...

Anyone know of a site that compares the Audigy 1 to the Audigy 2? I've tried to find such things but google can only find me places that sell them. Any links would be greatly appreciated..thanks!
