Audible in 4.3, getting 3 notifications all the time?

I updated to a rooted ROM for 4.3 on my N4, but whenever I run Audible it gives 3 identical notifications that won't go away unless I close down the program. Has anyone else run into this problem or is it possibly just the ROM I installed?

That's because developers were taking advantage of a bug in the Android System. They could flag their app to constantly run in the foreground so it would never be killed even if it wasn't actively being used. In 4.3 when this happens now every app posts a notification to the status bar. This is OK for stuff like music players so that when the user exits the app with music playing, it wont get killed but not for other apps that don't need to be kept running.

I have a different query. I want to postpone updating my phone to 4.3 because my phone is rooted, and want to get rid of the notification icon for I do not want to touch it accidently. Is there a way?

OP, see here.

I think it's a good thing. I see no reason that Audible, for example, should continue to run when I'm not actually playing, downloading, etc...

This right here. Google is basically showing users what apps are still running when you thought they weren't.
