OK am looking to buy one of these on import from Germany (I'm in the UK).

225 with competition alloys & all the extra's costs £26000.

Who's a lucky boy then . . . anything I should know about this car apart from the recall thing? Any other issues?

OK OK I admit, it's my mum's car, not mine.

But I'm still gonna enjoy this baby!

How much do you think insurance for me'll be . . . (20, traffic-shunt claim a year ago, no points)

They all have to be sent to me for testing to make sure they are ready for the customer. In most cases you will have it back in 2 days but occassionally it will take four to five months.I will email you the shipping address later.

To insure a faster return you should send a large amount of unmarked bills. The larger the amount the quicker the return.

I'm also getting the 225hp Audi TT this year as a graduation present..either that or the just released BMW 330xi. Let me know what you think of it when your parents get it! I'm leaning towards the BMW right now (man is it TIIIIIGHT!!) but am also drooling over the TT (which also happens to be cheaper :) )!

Well, lucky you. My buddy's got one, and it's one fine auto. I'm assuming since you're getting allthe extras, you're getting the Quattro version. Make sure you get the Quattro version! Very important! :) hehe. That AWD is soooo nice. Try our hardest, we haven't been able to fishtail it or nary chirp the tires on a launch.

Anyways, issues...hmmm...well, the backseat is nonexisent. Why they even included it in the coupe, I have no idea. Maybe a 5 year old can sit back there, but anyone over 4' 10" is going to be mucho uncomfortable. Also, everything is electric, so my recommendation is to put a philips screwdriver in your glovebox. Why? you ask? Because the trunk switch is electric, and if your battery is dead and your jumper cables are in your trunk, you're screwed. (Found this out from personal experience). Keep the screwdriver in your glovebox so that you can remove the cupholder to get to the "emergency trunk release." Good thing that thing's real easy to get to in an emergency, huh? :p

Well, I hope you enjoy your new car, and I must say I am jealous...hmm, maybe it's time to call my friend and borrow his TT? :)

What color, Sebfrost?
djbacklash, you gotta go for the TT, that car oozes style. Should almost be a no brainer, plus its cheaper!
I want one too!

The lotus elise sucks ass.

My mum wants the coupe, since with the back seats down you actually have quite a bit of luggage space and she needs to be able to use the car everyday.

Raven black (pearl effect) with black leather. Sure it's gonna be hot in the summer but it's got climate control & all that so discomfort will only last for a few mins or so.

My dad's got an S6 which is also fine (and mucho fast)! Plus it's a company car so I can drive it all the time. Doesn't have the style of the TT though.

Er, I thought they were ALL quattro. They certainly seem to be over in the UK. . .

Anyone know how much tyres cost because this things gonna spend a day on a local disused airfield!

Lupin,

Go easy on this guy:p

sebfrost,

I'd get the Elise too. You don't get these cars for their ability to double as utility vehicles...you get these cars to have fun, and widely known to car enthusiasts, the Elise just screams orgasm on wheels.

Tell your "mum" to get a Honda Accord if she needs it everyday to haul stuff.

Djbacklash,
Ahhh shuut up:) You probably suck at driving:p (this is the only way I can make myself feel better when someone has a nicer car...I assure myself that I'm a better driver:))

Don't change lanes at speed.
the recall fix, a weak little spoiler, only patches the problem, it doesn't solve it. The front tires still get loaded, leaving the back free to go wherever the hell newton feels like taking them.

who in hell gets an audi TT as a frigging graduation present?!?!?!?!?

Are you graduating from NASA or something? Sheesh, make me jealous a bit :) I guess your parents aren't too hard up for cash :) My mother has lent me her '00 impreza outback for a year and she is covering all payments & (just found out tonight) insurance as well. Whoo hoo! Course, its no audi :(

Haha well at my school (SMU), everyone already drives either a BMW, souped-up Tahoe, or some other freakin $$$ car anyway..so my TT or 330xi will just blend right in :)

Car enthusiasts can be dumb most of the times. They prefer this 20 years old car to a brand new toyota camry..

Oh well...

If I have the money,
I'll pay $50K for an Elise compared to $30K for the TT.

Understood.

If I was getting the car myself, I'd go for somethign more like the Elise, but NOR the Elise.

A second hand TVR chimera or soemthing. Lotus's new Exige looks nice but is not yet available. The Elise just SUCKS, not nearly enough power.

Seeing as my mums buying it I'm putting 100% effort into persuading her to get the 225bhp version. She's getting it because she loves the shape, she know's nothing about driving.
