Hey guys, my friend told me about this today. Here's the link:

http://www.audizine.com/forum/showthread.php?t=291702

I'm thinking of going. I haven't been keeping up with cars, but which would you guys choose? I'm picking between the S5 and the TTS...the most powerful car we've had in our family had 200hp (and it's a van...my DD has 140hp), so I think staying away from the R8 would be best 😛 I'd rather push a weaker car at 70% than a more powerful one at 50%...thoughts?

So I thought only the R8 was a ride-along, but apparently all 3 cars are just ride-alongs. I won't delete the OP just in case anyone is interested in this.

Just to clarify in case anyone is confused. You will NOT be driving any of the cars. You will be a passenger while a professional driver DRIVES YOU around the track. If you're nice, he might let you turn the radio on.

I guess I didn't read it correctly. That really sucks.

I'd pay $45 for a ride for a few laps in the R8 at a good track with a competent instructor going full blast.

It'd be cool if it was free, but I wouldn't pay 45$ for a 3 lap ride along in an R8 (though I'm biased since I've done many a lap around that track).

15$ for one of the S cars isn't so bad, but if you go to a track day you can probably bug somebody to give you a whole session ride along for free in an S4/RS4 🙂

Yea I went to an SRT Track Experience. You get it free when buying an SRT vehicle but otherwise it costs $500 and I got to drive every SRT vehicle including Viper then they gave you a ride along in a Viper with a trained driver and they drove the hell out of it. Awesome experience. It was an all day event and you got some REAL drive time in the vehicles.

Was it over at willow springs? I'm glad that dodge is still doing them, they have one scheduled for thunderhill soon, in years past they did it at sears point.

Yeah not being able to drive it is lame. I'd do that for an exotic, but the R8 is hardly that. This is more like a look-don't-touch situation.

For the price I'm not surprised. The chances of someone stuffing one of these on a "pay $45 and drive a high-powered vehicle" basis is pretty high.

It's not so much the cost of the vehicle they'd have to worry about, it's the lawsuits and liability headaches.

Those "drive supercars for a day" programs usually cost thousands of dollars, so I'd say you're probably right.
