Audi - Ridiculous Part Pricing

So, I bought a CPO Audi S5 (second S5) and it has the brushed aluminum inlays (interior trim pieces). My old S5 had the carbon fiber inlays and they looked nice. So, I thought why not get a quote from the dealership to buy the carbon inlays and replace them myself. This around $700-$900 as a factory upgrade option. How expensive could it be to buy the parts from the dealer? The answer....very expensive and you'd be nuts to do so. I was given a quote for the sedan version for all of the 7 pieces of trim at $8,446.75 after taxes. Now, seeing as I only have 2 doors, it would only cost me a meager $7,339.35. Parts only, I would be doing the install. They told me they were on back order, so I said they could remain on back order.

Brushed aluminum is way classier anyway. Save exposed CF for where it’s functional .. roof, splitters, diffusers, can even pull off hood and wing if you’re a GTx RS.

I actually have a very good relationship with the dealership I use. I drive out of the way to go to them. They are one of the few family owned dealerships, not corporate owned.

Also, just traded in my B8.5 for the B9. The B8.5 was definitely more of a "drivers" car than the B9. Love them both.
