I bought a camera, two lenses and some accessories on everyone's favorite auction site recently, and when it arrived I discovered a few things. First, the camera itself (Minolta Maxxum 5000) was broken -- the mirror hangs loosely which is readily apparent when you remove the lens. Second, the camera and two lenses were put into the camera bag, loose, and then packed into a box surrounded by packing material. In other words, the camera and the lenses were free to bang against each other inside the camera bag (and there was room to do so). Neither lens had a lens cap, but by some freak luck, the front elements were not damaged. Third, I contacted the seller post-sale asking for a small refund ($10 on $120 auction) to compensate for the camera (he stated that items were in good condition), but I haven't received any response to my inquiry.
So, what's the consensus? Negative or neutral? I was willing to overlook the bad packing job, but the broken camera is annoying, compounded by his lack of response (even a negative one). I'd probably leave a Neutral on Heatware with a detailed explanation, but E bay doesn't give much room to explain what happened. The guy's not a professional auctioner (50 or so feedbacks), but I really don't see this as an acceptable sale. Correct me if I'm wrong though.
