#2?! They deserve to #1, but everyone hates on the SEC.
I disagree, they are considered the best conference in football by the experts. Unfortunately the computer is hating on them
Who are these experts? The SEC sucks this year.
auburn vs. georgia was a #3 vs #5
who else had 2 in the top 5?
The Pac 10 if you believe the pollsters....USC overrated...Cal way overrated...I'm sorry but the #1 team in the nation is not one that squeaks out victories which both of these teams have done on way more than 1 time.

First of all... Cal >>> USC... (Cal fan)

Now seriously, what does USC need to do to gain a little respect. They spanked everyone last year and won a bowl. They spanked everyone this year. If they win a bowl this year, is this enough to shut everyone up? I don't understand why it's so hard to understand that USC may actually be a pretty good team.

Why should a team who h asn't lost a game in a long time go down in rank? That doesn't make sense. They need to have playoffs, its COMPLETELY unfair to punish a team for not winning by a lot. Last I checked the goal in football was to win, not to run up the score to look good to pollsters.

OK, and why does your last seasons record matter then? That's the only reason USC and OU are 1-2.

how else would you reach a starting point, its not just last seasons record, but returning players and lot of other things that I believe go into the coaches/AP pre -season ranking.

Why shouldnt winning streak matter, USC has won 30 of its last 31 games, they have had close calls, but championship teams win when they are not playing their best. They had a close call against Stanford, Cal was close but they are a top 5 team

I hope Auburn goes through the SEC season undefeated and doesn't get into the "championship" game.

I would laugh out loud.

Well, it looks like Auburn didn't make up enough room in the polls to make it to 2nd this week. Oklahoma will likely be 1st in almost all computers, which means they have a very good lock on 2nd in the BCS unless Auburn gets very close to USC in the polls.
