While watching the Mississippi State vs Auburn basketball game I heard one of the announcers say something about 10 fingers on the ball and the other one jokingly said "or 12"

After a little reseach I now understand the comment. Frank Tolbert playing for Auburn has six fingers on each hand. Don't know how many toes he has.

I can see the extra finger. I'm not sure what that particular condition is, but iirc the other finger doesn't have a skeletal structure to make it useful. People with six toes are a bit more common too.

Antonio Alfonseca (baseball relief pitcher, of the Marlins and others) had this too.

Looking at the pic I'm surprised he hasn't had them removed. Look like unusable growths from that angle.

I thought the same thing. Why not have them removed? Some pruning shears and a couple of band aids and he is good to go.

Polydactylism?

IIRC extra fingers resulting from a genetic mutation are never useable (as in, they are unmovable and usually consist of just flesh + bone, no real muscle?).
