Tried to connect a 250W ATX supply to an eMachines microATX mobo. It doesn't work, is the power from an eMachines microATX supply (~120W) different than a standard ATX one (ie. voltage, current, or something), or is the ATX supply probably dead?

What kind of emachines is it? If they make P4's (i don't even know), you may not have all the connectors.

Otherwise, it should be correct.

You need to give more details. What kind of mobo? What kind of problem are you having? etc....

It's an eMachines 366c, with Cyrix MII-366 processor and Win98, basically a PII compatible (not mine, my parents). The power supply is a wimpy 112W or so, so when I upgraded the HD to a 7200RPM it started crashing on a regular basis.

The "eMachines compatible" power supplies I've seen are all only around 140W or so, so I figured I'd just stick everything in an ATX case with 250W supply. Everything plugged in OK, but it won't turn on (still works fine with the old supply, so I didn't fry anything).
