Old Discussion Thread Before Geeks Special Price drop.

These are Computer Geeks Special, so no additional 10% off using your Mastercard & code.

$12.95 = ATX 5-Bay Desktop Case w/ 230w Power Supply (Thank You to Ferris Bueller for the head up.)

$17.95 = ATX, 6-Bay Mid-Tower Case w/250 Watt. ATX Power Supply ATX Motherboard (micro, standard, or full size). Baby-AT AT/ATX motherboard (if it has an ATX power connector)
Does anybody know if the power supply get in the way of the CPU w/ the midtower case? Thanks You for any reply on this midtower for $17.95. I was debating btwn this or paying $50 for an Enlight 7237.

$31.50 = Geeky Starter Kit w/ATX Case(200 W Power), Floppy, 60 Watts Speakers, 1.44, Keyboard, Mouse.

I would always avoid having the power supply directly above and parallel to the CPU. It won't block socket cpu/motherboards, but it will cook them.

I have gotten a few of their geek kits for $99 and they come with that mid tower case. The case is plenty wide and does not block the cpu much. The thickness of this case is about like that of a beer can but not bad for a cheap case.

I got this case and temperature is terrible, espcially if you overclock and have a cdrom, cd-rw, a 7200 rpm HD and floppy drive. It is just too small.

If you are running those overclocked video card ... too bad :)

The $17.95 case I got was Genica Branded.

It has room for fan inside.

The side has a been pre-drilled w/ a bunch of little holes.

Are you talking about the midtower or the desktop case

I am pleased to confirm (now that mine has arrived) that the desktop case is the MinMaw MM3630 case- the desktop version of the case Mushkin recommends! Real quality stuff with a Sparkle power supply!

A "Head's up" to anyone in the Huntsville/Madison area of North Alabama. You can get the same midtower case at CableMart in Madison for around $28 plus tax. They also have a much better midtower for around $30 plus tax (this one has an extra fan and the power supply is mounted horizontal instead of vertical, allowing for more air flow around the CPU).

I have built a few PCs in the midtower cases like CompGeeks is selling. These PCs have mostly been slot-1 motherboards with slocket adapters and socketed Celeron CPUs. There is about 1/2" of clearance between the top of the slocket and the bottom of the power supply. It would be MUCH better if the power supply had been mounted horizontally instead of vertically.

They want to charge me $17 for shipping on this case. This is pretty high. Is there some seasonal price gouging going on here, or am I missing something.
