Does a case with ATX (≥7 expansion slots) support and the 6× 2.5-in bay stack exist? Inversion optional.

Looks like my desired configuration doesn't exist. Though, I can easily find cases with ≥6 3.5-in bays. Thanks for the help anyways.

After a bit more searching, and aigomoria beating me to the post, I found a 6 2.5-in to 5.25-in adapter: https://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817198068

I plan to put 4 to 6 SSDs in RAID (probably RAID 5) through Intel chipset sometime in the future, when 64-layer 3D NAND makes them cheap.

can i ask if your going to use SSDs for the 2.5?

Because unless ur gonna drop 2.5inch 10k RPM SAS / Raptors....

I would go a simple 5.25 inch 6 in 1 backplane like this:
https://www.amazon.com/6-Bay-Mobile...-fkmr1&keywords=thermaltake+2.5+hdd+backplane

And find a case which has a single 5.25 inch bay.

Do those kind of adapters not cause heat issues? Even SSDs can overheat. Perhaps if the middle two were left open to allow a little air movement. I have no real experience with SSDs though, the 2 systems I've tried that have them are no faster than my PC with a HDD (one of them is vastly slower actually).

not with SSD's.

And that unit has a single 40mm fan to force air though the unit to keep things under control.

Is that 40mm fan enough?
Yes for SSD.

Is it enough for a 7200rpm 2.5 hdd?
Maybe cutting close... but will probably work without issues.

Is it enough for a 10,000RPM SAS / Raptor?
HELLZ NO... those suckers get very hot.... hence why Raptors even had something called a ICE PACK to keep them under check.

SSD's are vastly superior and faster then mechanical hdd if speed is what your after.
Saying a Mechanical HDD was faster then your SSD tells me, something was seriously wrong with your SSD.

Didn't realize it had a fan, that's kinda nice...as long as it doesn't make a bunch of noise. I remember when they switched the raptors to 2.5" and how disappointed I was.

My system is an AM3 that I acquired from a friend. It was an x3 720 (unlocked to 4 and 4GHz, CPU-NB 2.6GHz) but now an x6 1100t (all cores at 3.8GHz, CPU/NB OC to 2.6GHz, MOBO barely handles this CPU). Was 4GB 1333 CAS 7, now 8GB 1600 CAS 9. Was a 4850, then 6950, now an RX470 4GB. Been through a few HDDs, it now contains a 2TB WD black. I do take very good care of my system and keep it clean and optimized. It is Win 10 but no stupid MS account, and all their spyware disabled/blocked etc.

My dad's system is an i5-2500k (that can't OC), now 16GB 1600 CAS 9, has my old 6950, and a 256GB Crucial MX100. Also Win 10. Even when I had it fresh installed (both Win 7 and fresh for Win 10, w/ AHCI) it was slow. Bootup times are in the minutes range (much slower than my HDD), and programs are no faster, my system feels snappier.

My friend has a 4790k (no OC either), 16GB 1600 CAS 9 (popular frequency I guess), GTX970, and a 512GB SSD I think an 850 EVO (it's a good name brand unit). Again, Win 10. His system boots up faster than mine, but programs don't feel any different. With my RX470 now, games aren't even noticeably faster/better on his system. He's running 19x10, I was using a CRT at 16x12 or 19x14 but now the same 19x10 (until I get a new monitor, apparently no analog for CRT with new GPUs). I can say I vastly preferred my high end CRT to all these crappy 1080 LCDs, or even a fancy FALD 4k VA/IPS TV (super smeary, weird colors, super laggy).
