Hi!

I bought a new case for my computer and this case is atx 2.03
-compliant. To my surprise my computer won't boot up with the new
power-supply (the furtherst I've gone is to get the green screen
in the beginning of the Windows-screen). Instead I have to use my old
power, with what I had some problems and that was the reason why I decided to buy a new case.

I am enquiring wheather there is any problems with using the atx 2.03 power with old memory -combs (66 Mhz or so), my processor is Cel500 (not overclocked) and the motherboard is Abit Be6-2. If there are problems with these, could you point me to the right direction by giving an URL, where to get additional information on the subject.

I already went and got the power-supply exchanged to another atx 2.03 power and the problems are still similar.

Best wishes and thank you for any help,

Well, I decided to buy the new case to get a tower and new power supply unit.
As it turned out, the new power was a total disappointment for not letting
the computer boot.

I now use the old power supply and I still have the old problems: computer locks
up after about an hour's use. If I have the case open, systems will run stable
without a problem. I thought there was something wrong with the power and that's
why I bought the new case+power. I still think there's something wrong with my old
power because of the lock-ups, but the new power sure didn't help.

Sounds like a heat problem to me. You say it locks after an hour of use. Tell tale signs of inadequate cooling.

Yes, that is most probable with the old PSU. However, the system was running stable for about one year
and the lock-ups just emerged from nowhere.

But, any comments on why the system won't boot to Windows with the new PSU?

Thank you for the suggestions,

How about some more detailed system specs and some information on the old and new power supplies?
