ATX 2.0 PSU?

Why is it so important to get an ATX 2.0 PSU now? What does it offer that other PSUs don't? I was thinking about getting the Seasonic S12-330 for my A64 3000+ system but I don't know if it's 2.0 or not...thanks!

ATX2.0 = 24-pin as opposed to 20-pin. The newer motherboards need it now (nForce4, i945)

also, some have the newer cables. (6-pin pci-express)

What is this 6-pin pci express connector for? The lower end seasonics don't have it...will I need it?

Technically the nforce4 doesn't NEED a 24-pin PSU, but may help with stability. Even the MSI K8N Neo4 Platinum SLI with the Creative soundblaster (that was said to not work with a 20-pin PSU) worked fine for me when I tried it.

I don't know about other chipsets and their needs at this point, but all I know is 20 pin worked when I tried it.

Might as well get a new PSU anyways though.

New PCI Express graphic cards draw power from this special connector. There are also converters that will give you this connector - Two 4-pin molex connectors to one of these 6-pin PCI-E connectors.

Great...thanks for the replies. Knowing I can get the pci-e connector later if I need it is a big help.
