PC specs:

Mobo: Asus P5KPL-AM
CPU: Intel dual core e5200 3.1ghz oced.
RAM: 2 x 2gb ddr2.
VGA: intel g31 graphics ( planning to upgrade to hd 7770).

I was planning to buy a power supply, Corsair VS 450 or a FSP Hexa series 500w. As i running to my motherboard user guide i turn to atx power connectors page and i read "For a fully configured system, we recommend that you use a power supply unit (PSU) that complies with ATX 12 V specification 2.0 (or later version) and provides a minimum pwower of 400 W."

The psu that i am planning to buy states "Conforms to ATX12V v2.31 standard, and is backward compatible with the ATX12V 2.2 and ATX12V 2.01 standards". So does ATX 12 V 2.31 compatible with ATX 12 V 2.0 (assuming my mobo has 2.0)?.

Yes, if it's compliant with ATX 2.31, it is also with 2.0.

What you really need to be concerned with is that the PSU has the right connectors for your setup... but even that is almost impossible to go wrong with. All you need: 4-pin CPU power connector, 24-pin main ATX connector, 6-pin PCIe connector (for the 7770), and some SATA connectors for your drives.

Where are you shopping at?
