William Strier, 66, was sentenced to life plus an additional 25 years to life in prison by Los Angeles Superior Court Judge Rand Rubin. He was also ordered to pay $10,000 in fines and $3,000 in restitution to the victim, Gerald E. Curry.

During sentencing, Judge Rubin said he was shocked to read in a probation report that Strier had shot a neighbor four times in 1969 and ?did exactly what he did in this case, zoned out? when he was arrested

?I think the jury saw through the fact that he claimed that he took all these pills. It worked for him the last time. It didn?t work this time,? Judge Rubin said.
