so i get my seagate cheetah drives and the atto ul3d hosta adapter today from fedex....open it all up install everything boot hit ctrl z at the atto boot screen and i get a messege saying "no setup utilities found....update flash contents"
so i go to attotech download page get the driver/firmware for the card type boot from a floppy and then i get this messege when it attempt to flash the rom

'there is no candidate address into which channel 0's flash can be mapped for the slot that its in. please move it to another slot and try again."

well i guessed it was talking about the pci slot the atto was installed into so i moved it three times and no go every time.

any suggestions would be greatly appreciated

thanks

Hmm, I didn't get that problem with the ATTO card. Try their tech support, they're actually very good. Also, email me if you need to talk about the RAID setup, I can give you a hand.

The cheetah's should reposition the heads every 5 seconds or so (because of heat expansion). This is normal. So it should sound like the HD is accessing every 5 seconds, even when it isn't. However, the clicking I do not believe is normal. I don't have the 36LP version though.

I cannot speak for the Atto. However I have the 36XL and they do click. I do not know why but both of them do. I bought both of them retail, they have worked fine for a month or so, so I do not think anything of it. It is not just a click though, it is almost like a beep-click. I don't think you have anything to worry about though.
