1. What type of after-market cooler do you have for your XL??

2. What were the temp differences?

3. What were your before and after overclocking results?

Basically I just want to know if dropping $30 on this video card is going to give me any increase in overclocking performance. Or is the XL just an inherently bad overclocker stuck at 425/540???

from what i heard, it's both that's topping your overclocking. The card has a crappy cooler (well, not great) and from what i heard, all the cards can overclock a little but only the X1800XT can overclock like crazy. Dunno, it might just be your cooler though, might as well get an aftermarket cooler since you have high temps (what are your current temps)

You'll probably get yourself up to 440-450 on the core which would equate to about 1-3fps on a min/avg/max bench. Obviously up to you if it's worth it but thats the realistic increase you'd see.

I advise only to consider a replacement cooler for reduced noise. Better yet, try using a diff'rent fan first at virtually no cost (remove original and metal cover).

my temps are about 50*C idle and ~75-80*C load.

What's the best performing cooler? I was looking at the ATI Silencer. Any better ones? How's that Zalman T101?
