They've been looking for new ways to stick it to us for the past 100 years and we keep voting for them. Why stop now?

What I don't get is how a state can force a company in another state to do anything at all. I'd tell them to go pound salt.

They better lower the sales tax then. They already raised the sales tax by 0.1% (to 9.0%)... Along with the tolls that will be on water bridges (I forget which...)

Like I said above, they made sure this flew under the radar.

Why don't you run for state legislature and cut spending?

They recently passed this in NY. Laws like this will be appealed to the Supreme Court...the Commerce Clause of the Constitution forbids states to tax interstate commerce - Amazon is already working on an appeal.

I'm pretty sure the court case in the 90s settle the issue of sales taxes being collected by out-of-state internet businesses. As long as it doesn't set an undue burden on the business, states can force the collection, hence the reason why states have been working (slowly) since then to help streamline their state sales tax laws and distribute software to make collection easier.

Good news fellas!

Dear Customer, Thank you for contacting Newegg. Newegg will not be required under any Washington State law to charge our Washington State customers sales tax. This is due to we do not have any business operations, locations, employees, property, etc. in Washington State, we do not fit the definition of a ?retailer? under Washington State law.

Write your governor. Although it looked like it passed pretty easily so a veto may not even be possible.

That douchebag? She wouldn't do anything for the people. She wasn't even rightfully elected, they invented votes.

Took 'em three or four tries to invent enough votes, but they just wouldn't give up.

I live in Oregon, with no sales tax. I am getting a kick out of the replies.

Same. Only 1 bridge and i would have to pay tax.

The lack of income tax makes up for it.
