To All SETI and ECCp members,
I need some testers for my new duplexing screen saver program. This screensaver can simultaneously run an executable file (SETI client, ECCp client, or any other DC project) and an exisiting windows screensaver. Once installed, it shows up as "BlankScreen2" in the Display Options dialog. You then hit the "settings" button to give it the executable file and the screen saver to run. If no screen saver is selected, it simply shows a blank screen while running the selected executable file. The executable process is killed when the screensaver stops.
The Screen saver itself is quite small (~50 K), but it requires the VB 6.0 runtime files, which are quite big. The whole things is packaged as an installation at the URL:
Team Anandtech Duplexing Screensaver
The installation simply makes sure all files are installed into the system folder without overwriting newer versions. There is no uninstall, and it does not show up in the Add/Remove files dialog.
For ECCp users, you can choose "permanent connection" in the client and never have to touch it again, as the DPs will be sent automatically.
I've only tested it in Windows 2000. Edit: Seems to work OK in Window NT 4.0.
Comments, suggestions, and feedback on problems are appreciated. Source code (VB 6.0) available on request.
