Give me your tips :)
I leave tonight for a fly-out in Ontario. The place we are going is ~100 north of Sioux Lookout. We are going to the Springpole camp. I'm going with my dad, one of his friends, and one of my friends. I plan to fish mostly for pike but we will do some walleye fishing as well.

smaller pike hit anything. white spinners work well.

larger pike will probably be a bit deeper, so you need a lure that can get down.

i dun know about walleye,

I'll be using mostly spoons for northern, with some Husky Jerks and maybe some bucktails.

Used to fish walleye quite a bit.

1 big fat nightcrawler + 1 crawler harness + weight

The walleye tend to stay on the bottom. Keep the weight about 6 inches - 1 foot from the end. Troll no faster than 3mph or just drift.

If you've never fished for walleye before there's not much action. It's kinda hard to tell when they hit as it usually just feels like you've hit a snag.

Get a couple of spinners for Pike as well. Sometimes they just don't want to seem to bite a spoon for some reason. I have a black and yellow Mepps spinner that is my "silver bullet" if they aren't biting anything else. Works every time. ;)

In addition, make sure you have a pair of needlenose pliers to get the hook out, and keep your hands away from their mouth as they are lightning quick and have some nasty sharp teeth.

I'll be up in northern Ontario myself this weekend fishing in and around Temagami.

Best of luck and enjoy your trip.

I have the same black and yellow spinner, and I put a medium sized minnow on it for walley. For pike, I have found that the bright yellow spoons with 5 red/orange diamonds on them work well.

And as for Walleye (Pickerel as we call them up here), i've always had the best luck trolling for them. I've caught quite a few trolling with a smaller Rapala or something like that.

Walleye OWNS Northern. Northerns have too many small bones, so you always end up biting into a few no matter how well you clean 'em.

Walleye never gets any action, not even when you bait him with with a 15-year old bi Aussie chick.....

Oh wait, wrong Walleye.... :D
