A quote of pure ignorance...more often than not, the nets win because of Kidds' play so I'm sure the fans can suffer through a game where Kidd throws up nothing but bricks.
Yes, and Kenyon Martin's development, and the health of Keith Van Horn and Kerry Kittles, as well as the introduction of Todd MacCullough, has nothing to do with the success of the Nets. It's all on Jason Kidd.
Last year Marbury ran with guys like Aaron Williams, Lucious Harris, Kendall Gill, Johnny Newman, and Soumalia Samake as his starters - the teams entire starting lineup is new, and the former starters are now coming off of the bench. Yeah, Kidd's entirely responsible for the improvement. Keith Van Horn is putting up stats pretty much identical to those he put up last year when he played with Marbury - yeah, Jason makes him such a better player, doesn't he? Kidd is great in the regular season, but in the playoffs, when the game goes to a halfcourt set and his man leaves him to double team the post, his inability to consistently hit the jumpshot hurts his team. The only playoff series the Suns won with Jason Kidd was with him on the bench.
You can say what you want about my team, but Marbury is not the problem. The Suns' problem is the fact that their best center is Jake Voskuhl, and they don't have a decent player taller than 6-7. Most of the time they play a power forward at center, a small forward at the 4, and a shooting guard at the 3 - and they get outrebounded constantly. No wonder they lose. Their record would be about the same with Kidd as without. What really hurt the Suns was the trade of Cliff Robinson to Detroit. A couple of key players who have been depended on to return from injury and contribute (Googs, Penny) have not done so. The Suns are a power forward and a center from being a playoff contender.
