OK, maybe I wasn't an idiot. Everytime I breathe the Enlight PS kicks off. If I wiggle the connector on the back of the PS the power goes back on and off and on, etc..... Of course this thing has worked flawlessly for years and now kicks out every time I wiggle the dang connector, grrrr..... Guess I'd better go over to the Hot Deals board and look for a new PS.

Now it's kicking off with no wiggling, must not be enough juice for the Athlon XP, danigit!!!!

Anyone got any suggestions for a new PS??

<< hehe....I abstain from voting on that. ;) Glad you got yours working too...put a Volcano 7 on mine...that Coolermaster was loud...temps were too high(62c at idle in the BIOS after 20 minutes) ..put my 65240 Vantec with Delta 60mm 7k rpm on it got down to 51c...) ..temp w/ Volcano 7.. 45-46c at idle ...CPU fan..quiet at 3110 rpm. :D >>

Why is everyone reporting such high temperatures? If my M7MIA goes over 60, it's locked up. With the same Coolermaster fan I get under 50 degrees.

Are you all putting them on backwards or something?

jonnyGURU,

I do feel jinxed, but at least I know now that I don't have to RMA the board or cpu :) At least now I can kick back and take my time now that I know the hardware is good.

This Enhance 0735 350W PS is only $45 shipped from Newegg and AMD approved up to an Athlon XP 2000.

Enhance PS's at Newegg

If you want my opinion (you should listen to me after all of the help I've given you), I'd recommend against that power supply.

Enhance sent some demo power supplies to me to "test" to see if they would be worth selling. Both died. One was that same power supply. It lasted all of a week. I rank their quality neck and neck with that of a Deer.

I don't know why you didn't check back with TCWO after getting such a great deal on a motherboard and CPU combo. ;)

The one I would recommend is this one. At $59, it's the most expensive power supply they sell, but it's a BEAUTY. Makes even Antec and Enlights look like Deer brand power supplies in comparison.

It's a TTGI/Topower made by the same people that make the ones for Enermax. It has a fan (not just a grill) on both the bottom and the back of the unit and the fans are ball bearing (the fans are even clear so you can see the bearings).

Of course, you can get the whole case for $64 if you needed it. For $5 more it gives you something to throw whatever power supply you don't use into and sell to someone else.

Either way, the freight is $6.95. :D

johnnyGURU,

I'm on it. I'll probably order the case tonight. And believe me, thanks to you I will be ordering from TCWO in the future.

Thanks!!

nope...lol...now down at 45c under full CPU(100%) load (running Dronez rolling demo loop) 2980 rpm on the CPU fan...love this..hehe...heh...even my case fans are running faster...3850 and 3640...

JohnnyGURU,

I had a few minutes to mess with this stinking thing today. I stuck in a new Future Power 250W PS from one of my other machines and it did the same thing as the Enlight. However, it only kicks off when I jiggle the case around. I tried it again and wiggled the power chord at the back of the case and power connector on the mb and it stayed on. However, when I lightly tap the fan or heatsink on the CPU, the power cuts out. Is this something that could be caused by an underpowered PS, or is there something wrong with the socket A connection on the motherboard? I guess I will be able to tell for sure when I get the new PS later this week.

I would say that the problem is the way it's mounted to the case. Perhaps it is grounding out somewhere on the chassis. Maybe an extra stand off?

jonnyGURU,

Dude, you're so good you're scaring me. The system is humming along on the Future Power 250w PS out of the case and Windows XP PRO is installing as I type......

OK, newbie idiot mistake again. I assumed all mb's have the same standoff layout. There was a standoff installed directly under a resistor/transistor thingie next to the CPU. Everything is back in the case and working perfectly. Now I don't really need the new case I bought, except to build computer #6 using the 15" monitor I have in the garage, hehe... The wife's gonna love that!!

Yoy are so lucky you didn't fry the board doing that! :D If you had, and then sent the board back to me, you'd be RMA Rant #592. :|

:p :p :p :p :p Ha ha ha!!!

Glad it was something simple.

JonnyGURU,

I ordered that case as you suggested. The power supply that came with it is an Allied AL-A350ATX, which seems to be made by Deer and is available for $33.64 online. It does not seem to be the PS you described (or is it?). What should I do?

JG, I'm not sure what I want to do. I am a bit dissapointed though, I obviously would rather have the higher quality PS. I wouldn't have bought this case/ps in the first place if you had not reccommended it, I would have bought a Chieftech w/420W PS from Newegg or something like that. What I would like is the higher quality PS shipped to me, and then I will return the Allied/Deer in the same packaging (I don't want it to end up on your web page :) ). Let me know how to proceed in doing this.

Hey. Sorry I missed your thread last night. I was busy.

The power supply should've been the one pictured. PM me or email me at jon@tcwo.com and I'll take care of everything.

Regardless if the power supply is a 350 or not, I told you it would be a different BRAND power supply and that's what's important. Unfortuantely, the cases come in box with the power supply installed... excuses excuses.... I'll get you the other brand power supply one way or the other. Drop me a line.
