If you really did hunt with a .50 caliber sniper rifle, what could you bring back? Some gibs?

Depends on what you'd be hunting. If you could hit a deer in the head, it would be an instant kill... And no damage to the body mass.

It depends on what I'm hunting.

Dove, pheasant, duck, etc. -- over/under 12-gauge

Varmits, small game -- .22-250

Deer -- .270, .257

Snipes -- paper bag and flashlight

Squirrels/rabbits - a 410/.22 over under combo. I opted for the .22 at longer ranges, and the .410 at closer ranges.

Deer - a semi-auto Remmington .20 guage w/ some very nice german branded sabots(can't remember brand name)

cats/sparrows/crows/starlings - an RWS .22 gauge cock action air gun w/ a very powerful scope. I could drop a kitty at 200+ yards.

Winchester Model 12 for pheasants, with an assist from Shottzie (a very hyper German short hair).

20 gauge for rabbits.

Frog Spear (Gig) for bullfrogs. Them legs is quite tasty.

And an empty milk jug, some twine, and a very large hook baited with beef neck meat for snappers. A pain to clean, but good to eat. I use a machete on them first, but the heads will still bite you for some time afterwards. I got the scar to prove it. :frown:

Midnight Rambler, no kidding on that :Q. It's amazing with those big snappers.

It's really erie when you skin out a big snapper and the hunks of meat are still twitching 6 hours later :Q

Wierd wierd stuff. No other living thing does that so long after skinning to my knowledge.

Oh, and my dad had to resort to economy size laundry detergent jugs (like 2+ gallons) because some of the snappers were running off with them :Q

He pulled up a 26 pound snapper once. That was one big mo'fo'in turtle :) He had to drop it with several .22 shots.

i prefer to take on animals one on one...not the pussy way of hiding in the bushes and shooting an animal in the back from like 200 yeards away.

How about an FN-FNL?

That puppy will shoot through a car lengthwise and still maintain enough velocity to kill on the other side. That's what I hunt with. Heh. Ya!

Generally a sawn-off berelli auto-shotgun.

Now, when I hunt animals it depends - normally a .50 cal machine gun on the back of my humvee.
