Attn Forum Moderators: Creating Help Guides for DC clients

Hello all,

newbie cheeze around these parts but i was wondering about somet things.

Certain clients such as SOB and UD are easy as cake to set up

Other clients (F@h,S@h, ?,etc) might be harder to set up once you get into varying versions...cli wrappers..running as service..etc..

also there are commonly many tweaks to each DC client to make it generate better results, more results, or just run more stable.

For some of these DC clients the information is there but its just so widely spread out that it's easy to get lost (i forgot which one of the x@h i was going to do but it had multiple cli wrappers and gui's and thing-a-ma-whatcha-mcallits that i got confused 🙂 )

I know that there are even some help guides already out there at various team anandtech sites...

i was just hoping that w/ this post all the main DC clients can be represented w/ newbie-friendly guides on getting started, tweaking, running as service, etc.

Hopefully a thread can be stickied where each post is a separate DC client (or one big big one) guide...

this would be an addition to the current main thread on DC clients. a more in-depth "here is all u need to know to get that thingie working" spot...

Through helping a new person that just joined DPAD i have made a help guide for this project as well. the others are open to addition.

Is this a aye or a nay as an idea

Not a bad idea🙂
We have various sites for the different projects but one that covers many is Teamanandtech.com (lower link in my sig).
As you'll see some projects are missing so any setup guides for them would be useful🙂
Once compiled they could be sent to Virge who does the updates for that site ,be aware he's a busy chap & may take a little while for him to applie changes

I was going to point you to this, but I guess you've already seen that. In that thread there are links to guides for most projects. If you feel ambitious enough to write a guide for DPAD, that would be cool. The only problem is that I don't recall to whom one is supposed to send a PM if one wants to update part of the thread. 😱

Edit: I'm stupid; it says right at the bottom of the thread to PM Smokeball if you want to make any changes to a listing for a project in there (i.e. to include a link to a more detailed FAQ).

jliechty - you can't be stupid, if you find your own mistake...

So, I will agree, create at the site (actual problem: why I can't go in at www.teamanandtech.com ??) special space for each project - members could get info of it, and maybe new visitors would join to some of them ??

BTW. IRC always working !! (irc.teamanandtech.com)
The irc server works, but the web page is screwed up somehow (i.e. what you see there isn't what's supposed to be there). Oh well, nobody cares about tairc any more so I doubt it will be fixed any time soon. :frown:

aye. i made a full help guide for DPAD that does everything except discuss LINUX.

this will have to be updated as of ~april when v5.xx comes out.

will PM smokeball. thx guys!

i was kind of hoping a thread is created directly here and stickied. i for one never have gone to the TA website 🙂
