........ -Attn: Comcast Users- .........

For the past few months, Comcast has been upgrading all cable modems from 128k upload to 256k upload. Just unplug your modem and plug it back in after a few minutes. If there isn't an increase in modem speed, then your config file hasn't been changed yet. It could take a few more months for the new config file to be sent to all modems.

Yep, I'm sure they will. They've already jacked our prices on DSL around here several times recently, so I'm sure you cable modem guys are really gonna get raked.

The connection you have with the interenet is like a drug. The more (faster) you get the more you want. Then the drug dealer (comcast) says hey, I need to up the price. You can't just stop using it and you will pay more. You might change dealers but there prices will follow the same trend, up.

they already did up the price..if you dont have comcast cable tv, then its right around 60 a month...if you do have it then its only 45 YMMV

I have both... :-\ but i have that 12 channel cable lol

Yea, got the increase in MI about a month ago. You have to power-cycle the modem for it to take effect (or at least thats how mine worked).

actually, theyre doing this b/c they merged with attbi. since attbi has had 256k upload for most of its customer base for a long time, comcast (the new controlling company) decided that instead of slowing all the attbi users down (and catching sh1t for it @home style), that they would speed everyone up to 256k.

also- www.comcast.net has some info on a plan 'comcast pro', which is $95 or so a month, and is 3.5mbit down 384kbit up. I need to look into this, and i suspect some people here would like to look into it too 🙂

Yeah but look at previous threads about Comcast. A lot of people are getting much worse performance now that they've taken over other ISPs.

Still great connection here.. although there were moments where I couldn't connect at all... generally I think comcast is great 😀
