1. How does Saturday, October 28th sound for a get-together? I don't have the time right now to try to put together a LAN party, so maybe we can just meet somewhere for dinner, or if someone else would care to look into putting a LAN party together we could still do that. :D

2. There is a computer show this weekend at Veterans Memorial downtown, Saturday 10/21, and Sunday, 10/22. I've picked up some good stuff there, new and used, but it pays to know the going retail and 'Net prices going in. My son and I are planning on going on Saturday. :)

Admission is $6, plus parking. Hours are 9:30am to 4:00pm

They have other shows in Ohioand many other states.

MarketPro Website

NOTE: If you go to their website, click on Customer, then click on Coupon, you can print off a coupon good for $1 off 2 admissions to the show.

^Bump and an update. Due to a brainstorm I had this morning (ok, so it was actually only 2 brain cells that made a good connection :p) I am working on the possibility of a LAN party that weekend. :)

I am working out the details, can't promise anything, but if I can work through some liability issues, I may have a place that would be ideal and no time limit to vacate, so we could go all Saturday and most of Sunday if we want. Enough room for 10 to 15 people, a kitchen area with refrigerator and microwave, a restaurant next door, and a hotel across the street. :D

So for those not interested in a LAN party, they can meet up and have dinner with us and hang out for awhile. For those who may be travelling in, a hotel nearby in case you need to crash for awhile before heading back. :D

Don't know if it will go through or not, but everyone interested keep thinking positive thoughts! :D

If I didn't have a wedding to go to that weekend, I'd travel down from Cleveland and let you guys beat up on me in UT, but as it is... You guys have fun! :)

BadThad,
Thanks! That info is right on the money! I go to have some fun, and sometimes I've gone to pick up a few "used" items, or specific new ones. I always go in knowing what the current prices are for what i'm interested in, and try to buy from vendors that have at least an Ohio address if not a local one.

So far, I've had good luck, or maybe I was prepared going in. :)

:D

Thanks, LeBlatt! I just got in the hub! :) So we are set as far as a hub unless we have more than 16 people that need to connect for the LAN party! :)

Well, I can guarantee you that SYST3M and networkman(me) won't be able to make it, as we'll both be at the OctoberFest gaming party going on in Flint, MI that same weekend.

The weekend afterward I can make it.

You're welcome, Ray. You'll find PDFs for it on IBM's site (search for 8225) and I'll gladly help if you need assistance in setting it up. Only tweaks needed are to set it's IP addy (must currently be set to something like 192.168.0.101) and speed (currently 10Mbps I think)

Ray - UR Welcome! I've seen too many people scammed at the shows, I just had to put something up on the web.

Hello fellow Buckeye's

I don't think I have any plans for the 28th, so I should be able to meet up with everyone. I've have access to several hub's and dozens of cable's if needed for a LAN party.

LeBlatt,
That IP addy worked just fine, and we were using 10Mbps NICS, so it came right up and is now the main home network hub. Now Mr. Fluffy can use the 5 port hub for LAN parties at his friends without taking down the home network. Again, many thanks! :)

Captain_Rob,
Thanks, we may need to take you up on that, especially the cables, although I just got a hub from LeBlatt that has 17 working ports, and can be set to 10 or 100. Plus, I may be able to use a 12 port switch we have at work that isn't part of the production network. :)

Everyone, please go and vote for the best day to have the get together:

Thanks all!

Hey all!

I'd be interested in some LAN FUN. What kinda games do you all play?
28th is probably cool with me.

I have a 5port 10/100 auto with uplink and 4-5 cables I could bring if it happens.
