Attn: Californians - you have 100 days to eat all the fattened goose liver you can

Eat up, the suffering is delicious. After July 1, I'll be going to NV for my foie fix.

California diners have less than 100 days to consume foie gras before a July 1 state ban on the controversial delicacy begins

I've never had it - and while I do feel that the practice to make it is cruel, I still kinda want to try it, at least once.

Does the canned shit go bad? I just found 3 cans someone brought home from Montreal or France. That was 2 or 3 years ago...

And thousands of foie smugglers in line.. WTF is the point of these laws if the banned substance is easily available?

So, according to the CA law it becomes illegal to sell foie gras but not illegal to possess or consume it. What's to stop someone from buying it online? That's interstate commerce that CA can't regulate, right? If a restaurant happens to buy it outside CA and brings it in, what's to stop them from giving it away for free with the purchase of a $200 prix fix meal?

Can't believe I'm saying it, but it's times like this when we need a guy like Mayor Daley to just step in when the state/city legislature is away and cram through an overule of the law like he did in Chicago a few years back, with no one supporting him, and no one asking him to do so.

So California politicians have fixed their budget and economy, and now have time to concentrate their efforts on Foie gras.

Government should keep it's nose out of the kitchen.

Close, but in this case "animal cruelty" was the correct answer.

you telling me they remove gooses livers from live gooses and what, don't kill the goose? just steal goose livers and leave the gooses in a motel room bath tub full of ice? 😵

My wife and I tried foie gras for the first time at Sensi in the Bellagio last year. It was one of the best things that I've ever eaten.

Nope, the contention is that force-feeding the geese by tube to enlarge the liver is cruel and inhumane.

Load of bullshit, fuck the fucking hippie pieces of shit that get this kind of food ban passed. Assholes, I demand that people stop eating cabbage. Think of the poor poor cabbage! Fucking dipshits with their arbitrary nonsense.

I take food personally.
