ATTN Biostar M7MIA Ver 2 owners: qusetion about CPU temps

My XP1800+ is running at 53 degrees under load with an Alpha PAL8045 (46CFM YSTech fan). The room temperature is around 28 degrees. Is that normal? I heard this particular mobo has a bad thermistor which reports unusually high CPU temps, can anybody confirm this?

PS: I have it mounted in Enermax FS710 case (same as Antec SX1030) with 4 panaflos, so airflow isn't a problem.

Let me ask you this....

DOES IT LOCK UP? DO YOU GET FATAL EXCEPTION ERRORS?

If not, then it's fine.

Is the thermistor "bad" as you put it?

No. The fact is that ALL motherboard's thermistors are grossly inadequate. What does AMD's website say the max temp is for an Athlon? 90C. Can you imagine your PC running with a temp reading of 90C? All of the motherboards on the market use an external thermistor. The companies calibrate them to the best of their ability, but this can cause exponential margin of error.

If you're not locking up and getting Fatal Exception errors. Don't worry about it.

Hope nobody gets annoyed, but I asked this in another thread on this mobo and didn't really get an answer :; dp004i, you say you're running an XP1800+ on a rev. 2.0 board? Is this with the original bios? Does your mobo report the speed correctly? I have a rev. 2.0 with a 1700+, but it is running at 1100 (mhz, not rating) which is definitely too low. The Biostar site actually states that this revision only supports up to Tbird 1.4s. There is an XP support updated bios, but supposedly for rev. 2.1. Just want to know if I can run this at its original rated speed, or if I'm stuck at 1.1 ghz. BTW, the temps are really high (around 60 degrees C w/ stock HSF).

Ok, feel really stupid about last post finally realized that the JCLK jumpers were set to 100mhz FSB. Duh! Now runs fine @1467mhz. Haven't checked the temps yet with the new bus speed, but will today.
