My son is now 4 1/2 and has grown too large for the child seat on the back of my bike. He is still too young to ride his own bike with any speed to go on long rides, so I am looking at either a trail-a-bike (like a partial bike that has an arm that attaches to my bike instead of a front wheel) or tow bar (would connect his little bike to mine).

Examples:

Trail-A-Bike
Trial Gator (tow bar)

Anybody use either one? Pros/Cons? Other Alternatives? I just want a nice safe solution so we can still enjoy long family rides.

I would hope they would never detach ;) THe big advantage I see for the tow bar is that if he does want to ride on his own for a little while he can
