ATTN: all you comcast cable modem users

Ameesh

Lifer
power cycling our cable modem increased our speed for 1.8 Mbps to 3.2Mbps

apparently the bandwith upgrade had been rolled out in our area for a while but with out a power cycle the cable modem wouldnt pull down the new configuration.

make sure you do a dsl reports speed test before and after if you try it so you can see the difference.

Some of you may wish to turn the power of your modem off and leave it that way for the good of the community. You know who you are.

WTF is power cycling and how do you properly power cycle your cable modem?

Flip the power switch up and down fast? 🙂

Ah ok I was going to flip the switch, do a Michael Jacksoon moonwalk then flip the switch again.

Drats and I was so close!

Powercycling is to unplug it from everything, leave it unplugged for about 60 seconds, and then plug it back in.

That works but you have to have your thumb in one nostril and a ham sandwich on the table as well.

Mine doesn't have a switch, so that's what I have to do.

They finally got around to upgrading mine to 3Mbps this last week. I wish they would've doubled the upload speed too but I will take what I can get! 🙂
