Attic insulation question....

The majority of my attic space has the blown insulation but the area immediately around the attic stairs has a plywood sub-floor which is exposed to the attic...probably 2' around the stairs entry to the attic...I keep some empty luggage and my christmas tree up here (which pretty much all there is room for)...

Can I just get some insulation to lay over the plywood? will that help the overall insulation? is the fiberglass batts better than rigid foam (I would get the rigid foam insulation that can be left exposed and you can walk on it)?

I did have that attic door insulation kit installed (you have to zipper it when you leave the attic)...

Do what I did if possible, pick up or unscrew the particle board “floor” and add cellulose insulation inside the re-position/assemble.
Best to only heat living area.

There is fiberglass insulation between the ceiling drywall underneath and the plywood...will adding more insulation above the plywood help at all?

Will adding extra insulation over the bare plywood make a difference in the heating/cooling of the house? I am in Dallas, so we get 100+ degree temps in the summer and can get in the 20's during winter.

Maybe someone more knowledgeable cam chime in. From what I can tell, that small area won't make much of a difference in heat transfer into the attic. The rest of the area is insulated. Also, the HVAC unit is in the attic? If so, then the area in question is less of a an issue

I wouldn't sweat that little bit of deck. But I would be worried about what appears to be a kink in the csst where it connects to the furnace.
