After reading that thread where keys stepped down as a moderator, I'm trying to understand...how shall I put this....what the fuck is wrong with some of you.

In many cases, not even a necessary one. People are starving in the world, govermental corruption runs rampant, women are raped and murdered on a daily basis, there's a genocide occuring in Darfur and you are here arguing over a stupid fuck piece of printed circuit board and which one has the better image quality?

And what really gets me is that people can really take sides in that argument? How the hell do you get so enamored with a company that makes video cards that you're willing to scream and shout and introduce all kinds of ridiculous argumentative rhetoric?

Cliffs:

AMD Vs. NVIDIA = possibly the least important problem ever faced in the history of mankind.

This forum is for the on topic discussion of video cards and graphics. If one wishes to discuss other topics (world hunger, war, etc.), then please make use of the appropriate subforum relating to said topic, you can find a listing (along with the topics covered) here.

I'm not one to argue , but I think you're being a little harsh . People debate about lots of topics and honestly arguing about something we have no power over , such as the conflict in Darfur may seem pointless to some . With video cards you can at least choose which one to buy , whereas your options for ending the Darfur crisis are zero to none . What can you do , hold a pickett rally in front of the UN assembly ?

That's not really what's really bothering me, the thing that really bothers me is that... They cant seem to understand the Greed in this world where company come out with 500mhz faster piece of shit and sell it for $500+ and claim it da-bomb! And if you want to prove me wrong just hit it up and we'll see..

You can worry about things you have very little influence to no influence over (and stress over it?) but let these people argue over something dumb.
Did you typing this help stop any rapes or slow the genocide? Yeah didn't think so.

Oh women deciding which shoes to wear w/ which dress is a less important issue in my opinion.

Well, you're here replying to this and not out raping anyone.

So in a way, I did.

Jschmuck2 might be a little over the top with bringing the world's ills into the topic GPU discussion, but his main point is still valid as these are simply computer equipments and many people here go way overboard with it. But I guess you can't have internet forums without fanboyism I guess.

I made a topic about brand/format war last year: http://forums.anandtech.com/me..._key=y&keyword1=format

What's your point?

I'm here because I'm a tech junkie and I like to read up on the latest info. Arguing over which brand is better than the other is not the only reason we have this forum.

People come to this forum to discuss video cards, not world hunger, corruption and genocide. Video card companies are like teams in a football game, and different people will favor different teams. You might as well ask why people get so enamored with a specific team, or a certain car brand. Human behavior is not always subject to logic.
