I'm an MCP and I'm wondering for those who have passed the Current WIN2K track do you find it easier to find a job that you are qualified to do? or are you doing mostly things you don't want to. and are the companies you work for willing to help with MOVING expenses if it meant moving 1500 miles across the country.

I need to upgrade my certificate to the Win2K track, and if I finish my full certif, would it give me a way out of this st!tHOLE. there isn't anything here that is anywhere near the MIS stuff that I want to do to.

What this boils down to is that I'm in a job that I 'don't mind doing' but I don't ENJOY It and I don't like it much. it's one of those "I have to because I need to take care of my family" I got my certif for NT 4 Last year. Every Major tech company in the area told me if I got it they'd hire me. and when it comes down to it I couldn't even get one of them to look at me. and I ended up working for an ISP. It's not like I don't have the experience, I've been doing this kind work since I was 17.

My wife and I are going nuts, there are MANY MANY personal reasons that are involded in this sitution. that this prompting me asking this question, but I hate the idea spending the time to get certified, only to find that I'm stuck in the same place everywhere.

I love doing tech stuff, I'll be a geek for life, but I need to get out of here before I seriously start to lose it. if it is possible I'll eat sleep and live MCSE until I get done. otherwise It'll feel like a waste of time.

The NT MCSE got out of hand.
Anyone could hit a website 10 mins before a test and ace it.
MS is trying to lockdown with the 2000 core.
The MCSE cert is not going to get you a job. Thats really just a notch on your belt.
You need to have the experience, on the job and general, to get companies to look at you.

that's what's killing me I have the experience. TONS of it. My current job I got hired becuase I have so much experience and because of my certif, but I am the YOUNGEST employee here. I think the next person that is close to my age is about 8 years older than I am.

For now yes, but I've done Free lance Networks on the side for a couple of years I've got a couple of GREAT letters of recommendation.

the area is technicaly dead as far as technology goes. most people don't know the nose in front of their face
