Once again there is a clusterfvck of a problem going on here because a PM decided to ignore all our procedures for getting software installed on a server and deployed to a department. Oh sure....they can promise the department that application X will be installed on such and such day...but do they ever bother to approach me or any of my team members about actually doing the install? Oh hell no!!! Do they bother following departmental procedure when it comes to having the software approved, creating a test plan, creating an implementation plan, etc? NO FREAKING WAY!!! Why bother doing all that? They bought the application and the vendor says it works. No need to test it and see how it works, how it needs to be installed, or if it will impact any other applications. Does it need SQL? Why bother finding that out before hand? Why our DBA has nothing better to do that to sit around waiting for a PM to call him in a panic because this software needs to be back ended on SQL but nobody knew that BECAUSE THE ASSHAT PM NEVER BOTHERED TO FOLLOW PROCEDURES!!!!

Oh sure we will get the app rolled out today and save the day just like we always do. Why? Because we're the server engineering team and much like Superman we have a way of saving the world even when everything around us has gone to sh1t. Why? Because even though the PM dropped the ball we will be the ones to catch hell if the app doesn't get rolled on time. Don't wait up Lois, this may take a while.

If you guys work your asses off and get it done today, his plan did indeed work. He will only see that he promised something and it got delivered when he said it would, you can expect this to happen again...and again...and again...

0/10. I work in the flipside environment, where I can't even get something on my workstation to evaluate without jumping through burning hoops while singing johnny come marching home. it's an undefeatable ninja circular logic move that goes like this:

"I would like to install this application on my workstation to evaluate if it would be useful for our development cycle?"

"Prove to me that you need it and then we'll let you install the evaluation version"

"How do I prove that I need it if I can't evaluate it?"

"If you can't prove you need it, then you don't need it."

Wish I could have.......sadly the department in question brings in....well let's just say a LOT of money daily....when they are down it costs the organization big bucks....so......no matter what this had to be installed and made to work.

Can I take out a nice sized life insurance policy on you?
I'll split it 50/50 with your wife or S.O. 🙂

Seriously man....you are going to blow a head gasket one day.......
