I have just discovered a major problem and solved it on my card. My card could only get 230/530 without freezing in 3dmark2k1 or Medal of Honor. Also, i could not overclock my cpu front side bus at all, because it raises the agp bus speed. But i have stumbled on the problem, when Side Band Addressing is on, it really messes the card. With it disabled, i can get 245/540 without freezing in 3dmark2k1 and Medal of Honor. Also, i can achieve my normal cpu overclock i had with my older vid card.

Taken from Adrian Wong's post in a thread at the Rojak Pot Forums:

As you can see from the AGP Sidebanding vs. AGP Overclocking guide, sidebanding improves the efficiency of the AGP bus by allowing data transfers full use of the AGP bus itself while requests are serviced through the separate SBA bus.

It doesn't really matter whether your AGP bus is running at AGP1X or AGP4X. Sidebanding will definitely improve AGP performance. The only downside is that it appears to be very sensitive to overclocking. So, if you want to overclock the AGP bus really high, you will most probably have to disable sidebanding.

Too bad the guide he mentions can't be accessed, site's down.

I have recently had the Exact same problem with my 128 Meg Gainward Ti200 i am running a Celey 1.2 tualatin @1.55 with my old gainward gf2 pro 450. But since i installed my 128 Meg Ti 200 I cant oc my FSB at all literally it doesnt go higher than 105 and it was at 128 B4, btw where do u adjust the sidebanding. Im Running a Asus Tusl2-C Mobo if you were wondering so its not specific to Via

I found when using side-band addressing with a Geforce success is heavily dependant on the motherboard and driver version. My Epox 8K7A loves it (AMD 761), my kids' Abit KT7 (KT 133) and my wife's DFI AK76-SN (also AMD 761) won't have anything to do with it.

got a sweet Ti450 from Gainward- factory default 250/400. My second one that has come at these defaults.

You mean 200/450? Hence ti450?

They all come at that speed.
