Child-development experts have long warned there are plenty of reasons for kids not to watch too much television. Now a major Seattle-based study shows that very young children who spend hours in front of the tube risk having attention problems when they reach school age.
In the first research of its kind, scientists at Children's Hospital & Regional Medical Center and their colleagues found the risk increases by the hour.

For every hour of television watched daily by children at ages 1 and 3, the risk of attention problems at age 7 increases nearly 10 percent.

We'll have a TV, but there will only be certain channels available.......

They can watch all the PBS they want. ;)

This should be titled YASS: (Yet Another Stupid Study). What this is saying is that kids who spent more time in front of a TV were that much more likely to have problems. It does NOT show that watching TV is in any way causing this.

Sorry, but that's just as bad.

I prefer the other study that said kids who played lots of video games have better eye-hand coordination and quicker brains.

So, logically, if you watch too much TV, it cuts into your video game time . . .

If your child can sit calmly in front of a TV watching television or playing a video game for an hour or more at a time but can not sit still in class, he/she does not have ADD/ADHD. Your child is suffering from boredom, a lack of discipline, and/or a lack of focus.

Good to see that "Child-development experts" are still out there providing cop-outs for inattentive parents.
