I need a little help in finding a cash register system for a customer of mine. I have seen them used in stores so i know they exist. What i need to do is be able to have the employees punch in and out using the register, as well as be able to store sales data to be downloaded to a computer seamlessly. I am only looking for 1 or possibly 2 registers maximum.

Any specific items or details that you could show me would be extremely helpful.

thanks
Brian

What you may be looking for is called POS software (Point of Sale). It does cost a pretty penny for it.

What kind of functionality are you looking for? By storing sales data, do you mean storing customer phone numbers, purchases associated with them, etc?

One question needed is what do you intend to ring up on here. Some systems are compatable with barcode scanners and some are not. Some only allow you to define a limited list of the products you are ringing up (usually fast food registers).

I don't know the specifics about your needs, but I know that a company called "Dumac" is pretty good and can provide you with all the qualifications you've given so far, but they are more designed for food service applications.. they make everything simple enough that a total moron could use it.

NCR and IBM make POS systems for the Postal Service. Ive seen them in action and they do seem to be really user friendly and are what i presume to be the top of the line.
