I have dental insurance, although I doubt it covers what I'm hoping to have done.

It has always bugged me how my canine teeth seem longer than the rest. I asked my dentist about this last time I was there, and she said the best thing to do is to extend the length of the teeth next to it (lateral incisor?).

She did a "demo" where she put some stuff on my teeth to extend and showed me what it looked like. It looked awesome and I want to have it done.

2 Questions:
1. Is there any chance that insurance would cover this procedure? If not, how much should it cost?
2. I also am going to get my teeth whitened soon. I imagine I should do the whitening BEFORE, so that they don't match the color pre-whitened.

Thoughts?

what? veneers? as far as i know anything you do to alter requires damaging the teeth, and requiring life long maintenance and follow up care.

Very doubtful that insurance would cover a cosmetic procedure.

Vaneers? No. I'm not sure what it was, I guess I should have asked. She said it was common and did not damage the teeth.

My canine teeth were like that. I mentioned once to my dentist that it bugged me, he said "should have told me years ago" grabbed a drill and ground a tiny bit off the bottoms of them, took 3 minutes. Didn't charge me a dime.

Your dentist is a money-grubbing liar. The best way to handle this situation is to have your canine teeth grinded down a little bit. It will cost WAAAY less than veneers.

Not only that, veneers require a lot more work to be done (basically filing down your teeth which might make them fragile) and constant maintnance.

It's like insisting on getting fillings when you don't need to, it's daft.
