is it just me or do you notice that when you game with sli

although the framerates are higher but playable framerates had gone up too?

like when i was gaming with a single card....around 30fps in games would be pretty playable

but when i upgraded to sli....when framerates dip to under say 45....it would seem pretty choppy (like when you have 25fps in comparison to single card)

any comments? (please post your video card setup when replying)

any crossfire owners experience the same thing?

I think you just get used to seeing smooth framerates everywhere, so your expectations go up after a while. 😀 It might have something to do with the broken vsync though.

vsync works...trust me

r u speaking from experience?
no offense...but i really would like to find out if i just got used to it

i really doubt it though

Chances are that you did..

Because the word "smooth" is subjective. I personally can't play with a frame rate below 50 or 60, but I see others playing just fine with 15...

but the lag that causes by sli under say 40-45 frames is unbearable

you can totally feel it since the mouse would lag a bit

I can't get vsync to work in most of my games. In many cases it either does nothing or brings the performance down to single card levels. What games does it work in for you? I only mentioned that because in some older games I noticed that the framerate goes to like 150 all the time, but it actually feels like it's around 30 because there is so much tearing. Although that shouldn't really be an issue at lower fps levels.

Anyway, I haven't noticed anything like that yet. I used to find 60fps or more at all times to be good enough for most games, which hasn't really changed, although I have only had my cards for about ten days.

try playing FEAR....you'll see what i'm saying

as for vsync....i don't turn them on much but
they work in half life 2, doom 3, nfs most wanted and underground 2
that's all i tried

I noticed this as well while playing COD2 this week.

The game as a whole played wonderful on my SLI setup, but there would be those few times where it seemed to slow down a bit. When I looked up at the FPS counter, the minimum was like 42fps but I could "feel" the chug for a second or two.

okay...so far...me and Matt2 do feel it with our sli setup

and everyone else without sli disagree

can more people with sli setup join the discussion!!!

i think the easisest thing would be for you to try gaming with one card again. as others say.
DO IT:::::::::::::::::::::😀O IT NOWWWWWWWWWWWW.

I never experienced this with my SLI rig...

Also, v-sync works in FEAR... I highly suggest it for that game as well because the rooms with flickering lights are horrible without it.

I'll give it a try later tonight. After thinking about this again, I might actually have seen something like this in a few cases.

How did you get it to work in that game? I found that it didn't work with AFR at all and worked well with SFR, but FEAR has some bug where the slomo mode becomes very choppy with SFR.
