What will you be using them for? What are your other components? What kind of music do you listen to?

I really need to know more for me to make a suggestion, as some speakers are better at doing certain things.

I recently picked up 4 Wharfedale MFM-7's for $100 each on ubid. They supposedly retail for $1400 according to audioreview.com. Check it out .. they have them in black and rose color all the time.

I don't know much about the Warfdales...but if you want loudest for the buck, you need some Klipsches.

For loudness, you need to look for the sensitivity (measured in dB/1 watt). The horns of Klipsches historically give them some of the loudest and least distortion available.

Other good buys (not necessarily loudest) come from Paradigm and B&W.

Don't skimp on the sub!

BDawg,

You're right about Klipsch. I have a pair of KG3's and they kick ass. Paradigms are nice too. B&W are ok. The only pair that I heard that I liked were $1700 a piece.

The speakers would be paired with an old Kenwood receiver which in turn is connected to my computer. I will use them to listen to mp3s. But they have to be loud and full range so that i can hear them throught my house :)
