I've seen a few posts around about rattling HS/F units on their GeForce4 cards.
I've got a VisionTek Geforce4 Ti4200 (had it for about a month or so - Love It!).
Well, mine started to rattle a few days ago. I opened my chassis, a lo and behold, there was the HS/Fan sitting on top of my Modem!! Fell right off the GPU!
Good thing it didn't fry my USR Performance Pro modem, or I would have been really pissed.
So I drilled 2 holes in the mounting tabs on the HS/Fan, added some thermal grease, and screwed it into the mounting holes in the PCBoard. Should have been done by VisionTek if you ask me! They should know that the AGP (and luckily for my modem) PCI cards sit upside down in the PC!
Fortunately for me, the GPU was fine without even a heatsink attached to it for a couple of days!! Kudos to NVidia for that.
Just wanted to warn ya... if you hear that Death Rattle, be prepared for a quick fix, or an RMA!
