These guys should have a clue by now why it is down. I live in VA and will not go to an Orioles game until Angelos sells the team. They have not been the same since EBW died.

"I think the game itself will be fine," said (Chipper) Jones, who contributes to the high prices with his $90 million contract. "But something has to be done. I don't know what it is."

If tickets were not so damn expensive, I might consider attending a few games.

Our home team is quickly setting the standard for the worst starting record in the American League.

Chipper Jones is an idiot.

He is the same guy who talked about how he is sick of being famous and how he was "stuck playing video games" all day.

tickets+parking+food+drink=lotsa of $$$. I went to a minor league game here in nashville and for less than the price of one ticket to see the Braves, my family enjoyed a great game with some crappy ballpark food.

I'm with you on that. I only live 20 minutes from Camden Yards and will not see a game untill they show that they are trying to build a better team.

I hope a team comes to DC or VA, I would probably buy season tickets just to piss off Angelos!

Perhaps the government should bail them out.

Dumb bastards have raped their fans for 15-20 years now.

MLB has collectively:
1) Raised prices for admissions, concessions, merchandise
2) Coerced municipalities to build stadiums (i.e., raise taxes to build new stadium to keep team)
3) Ignored what fans really think about the game (e.g., games start too late, too expensive, MLB doesn't have level playing field, players make too much money, owners make too much money, etc...)

Heh, so now that the economy is getting tough fans are are re-allocating their resources. Yet I suspect that prices are so high, and profit margins are so thick, that teams will continue to make money despite their apparent drop in attendance.

Yamaha,

I agree. Also, the last MLB game I watched was WAY too long. Too much standing around, spitting tabacco, scratching crotches. ;)

What the heck, with a hot dog and a beer setting you back about $42, why would I just not sit at home and watch the game on my big screen TV, esp. if the game is in High Definition. That way I get almost the same view (or better if you're one of those people who gets screwed by the guy with the big hat sitting in front of you), and can use a CLEAN restroom, and have whatever food and beer type I want. :D

Oh and another thing... why the heck do they need to have 162 (or whatever the number is) games a year? Heck, why does NBA need to have 88 games a year?

NFL games have a higher % of capacity crowds compared to the other sports... but of course there are only 35 teams and 17 games a year, rather than ?? MLB teams and 100+ games a year. Sheesh. There is only so much $$ on sports watching most people want to dole out every year.

A first step for the Braves could be to rename the "The Ted" to "The Hank Tank." As far as I can tell, attending a baseball game in ATL is mainly for the rich and white (and that is what Ted Turner is).
