Once again I'm attempting to OC my Pentium III 1000MHz Slot1 (FSB 100) processor. I just upgraded to an Abit BE6-II v1.2 motherboard. I noticed I was getting a lot better video quality from my Gainward G2 Pro450 OC@220/485. I thought getting this board would help in OC this processor, but I'm still having problems. I would be satisfied for any amount of OC I could get out of the processor. I definitly can see a difference once overclocked to 1150MHz (110x10), but the system just locks at any given time. This even goes for 1056MHz (105x10). What gives? Any know of a good setting for this processor?

Thanks in advance!

I used to have 1 of those on my old BH6 board and it would run rock solid on a 112 fsb setting with default vcore voltage(1.70 volts). It wouldn't even post at 124 fsb however, which was the next step up on that old board. I sold it and the proc to a friend and it's still running at 1120 mhz. I think that it is just the luck of the draw on obtaining any overclock with the slot1 1000E procs though as that is getting to about the limit of the cC0 stepping P3's. You can try upping the vcore voltage on it and it might stabilize it when you overclock it.

presently running one at 124fsb with a Vcore of 1.85V. stepping is cDO.
with that abit board, don't forget to disable speed error hold in bios if you're going to o/clock! :)

I bump the vc to 1.75 and tried the FSB at 105, 110 and 112. 11+ gives me an error while loading w2k. 105 boots, but locks shortly after. I have the PCI set to 1/3 and tried 1/4. AGP is set to 2/3. I would have to agree that it might just be the luck of the draw and I drew the short stick. I really was hoping to get a little more out of this CPU.

Anything else I could try?

EDITED:
What about lower clock and higher FSB?
Would powerstip cause a problem?
Should I not overclock my Video Card while testing?

Still attempting to get something out of the processor. I tried again at 112FSB. It boots and runs for a short while. I start playing RTCW and it LOCKS!

I really want to up the FSB. I can see a difference with a 105FSB so anything would be good for me. Any more suggestions...beside upgrade! Thanks

I dont think you could pull much more out of a slot 1... sad to say. Although youve certainly gotten farther than i have when i still had my slot 1 p3 and a p3b-f.

Hey man I have a suggestion for you especially if your overclock is locking up in games... Try setting your agp transfer mode to 2x in the bios instead of 4x that's what I had to do with my computer and now I get my cpu stable at 155fsb whereas before I could only get stability at 140mhz... try it out it may work for you... and don't worry the speed diffrence between 2x and 4x is very negligable... you might loose 1fps or so but who cares if you can get a stable overclock

Its pretty well known that Slot1's dont overclock as well as FC-PGA's. You may not be able to do much with it. How high have you gone with the Vcore?

i think those slot 1s were cBo and cCo steppings... which is why they didnt go very far. it was one stable setup though with my old p3b-f.
