I have a motor for a meat slicer that is throwing sparks from the inside when it is switched on. Here is what it looks like from above.
I believe I see what the issue is, but need some verification. Here is a picture of the wire I think is sparking.
It's the black wire that has "American Wire" written on it. The metal contact is sticking to the right of the beige tape. I think that it's supposed to be contacting the copper looped wire directly, and since it isn't it's sparking. I happen to have another working motor of the same type, and here's what that looks like.
Am I correct in thinking that putting this wire directly against the copper coil will resolve the issue? Can I do that and just use electrical tape to re-wrap it? Is there any risk of electrical shock working with this (not plugged in of course)?
