ATTBI installed softwareon my comp that loads up everytime I restart. If I remove this software will I still have my cable internet connection? What is this software?

I don't know what it is, but after he left, I hooked up my router, and 7 other PCs with no software installed, and it worked on all of them, so I know you don;t need it. It has been a while, but I think I had to enter some info into the router to make AT&T think it was a PC, like the computer name or something. Just check all of the setups before you put your router in place (I assume you will be using one, it is best to have a firewall)

Remove it.
Yes, you will still have internet access. ATTBI service only requires a properly configured network interface in order to work. I currently have ATTBI service with none of their software installed.
Last I checked (more than a year ago), their software consisted of IE 5.5 that had been customized with their logos and Real Player. The bulk of their software consists of every NIC driver known to man, which it checks to make sure is properly installed at each boot-up, a totally unnecessary action.

I'm moving into my new house 🙂 this weekend, with ATTBI coming over on Friday to do the hook-ups. I clearly informed the CSR over the phone that their tech will not be so much as touching my systems. He is to string cable and turn on the service ONLY, I will do all the configurations, etc.

edit: @Home service required that you enter a computer name and IP into your router or network properties. ATTBI no longer requires this. Merely set your setup to acquire your IP automatically from the DHCP server and you are good to go.

yup he's right. I used to work for ATTBI myself and am a customer to their high speed data.

no software involved. removed it from your pc
