ATTBI CUSTOMERS: email outage - PLEASE DON'T CALL IN!

Suspected email issue
Known outage, but we're still running around like blind mice trying to figure out what's going on.
4.4 million affected

Please do not call in. We know about it and have all of our call queues FLOODED.

One of the mail servers is down, affecting ~20% of customers, nationwide. Internal teams are investigating.

You might see:
one or more of your email accounts not able to download mail
one or more of your email accounts not able to login to webmail
one or more of your email accounts not able to send, but can recieve, or can send but not receive

The official time that I am supposed to give out is ~1-3 business days for resolution, but I've never seen an outage this big last more than a day.

Your patience is greatly appreciated. :) Appologies for any inconvenience (or misspellings;))

If you've got friends who are ATTBI subscribers, please pass the word around. It will greatly help us in informing customers that we're already working on it.

read: maybe, maybe not. It's affecting 20% of the mail accounts out there. We don't know yet. It's more or less trial and error. If you can, great. If you can't, you're outta luck.

What am I doing? I'm taking customer account numbers and cross referencing the outage board to see if they're affected or not. Gimme your account number (or phone number or email login) via PM and I'll check to see if you might be affected or not. I'm not apart of the team that is investigating or resolving the issue.

I don't seem to have any problems with email but for the last two days my access has went down. Both times at about 8:00pm, hmmm??

The lights on my cable modem would go out, I'd cycle the power, do a ipconfig /release and /renew and I was back up.

How do we know you're really an ATTBI rep?

You don't. Other people do.

Anyway, about your connection, that's either a problem with network saturation, or a problem with radio frequency interference. I'd suggest calling in when you lose your connection (don't power cycle your modem. If you have a connection, we can't do anything for you) so we can investigate.

Some people actually use their ATTBI email account (like I do) but many of them for business purposes (which is against the AUP) and call in to complain about it and demand credit for lost business.

384 is the Ultralink upload speed (which comes along with a 3.0mbps download speed)




update: it's working! Either Tier1 is stopping the calls instead of passing them all up to Tier2 like they were doing, or customers are no longer calling in as much. Granted we'll have a busy day today and tomorrow, but atleast the call volume is dying down finally.

On a related note, does attbi prevent me from getting my attbi mail when I'm not connected via attbi? My email never seems to work if I try to get it w/ my laptop at work.
